- Sree Janardhana Swamy Temple
Sree Janardhana Swamy Temple believed to be 2000 years old is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and has drawn Hindu pilgrims to Varkala for centuries. Non Hindus are not permitted into the inner sanctum, but may admire the temple from outside. An interesting feature of the temple is its bell which was taken off a Dutch shipwreck, and donated by the captain of the vessel that sank near Varkala without any casualties.
